Invincible Teds Girl 3rd Open BICC Barcelona was named after my late father in law Ted who was waiting with me for her arrival. Some time later I received a phone call from Allan Cecil, secretary of Ramsgate RPC when Melvyn Cowell & I started racing, who had heard from his friend John Massarella of Louella Lofts. John Massarella had called to ask if Allan knew me and, if so, could Allan contact me as Louella wished to purchase Invincible Teds Girl. When Allan phoned I was actually in the loft next to her nest where she was rearing two large young birds, she was paired to ‘Spartan’ my Barcelona winner at the time. A few minutes later the phone indoors rang, it was John Massarella, a deal was agreed and I delivered Invincible Teds Girl to Louella Lofts myself, the two young birds she was feeding were promised to John Lane and are now with him.
